Steve Gillot created this virtual walk through of an exhibition at Wootton Bassett School last year. Looks like quite a lot of work but actually is much easier than it seems.
Firstly you simply photograph all of the separate elements along with a few ‘wide angle’ images, then load these into Photosynth. The software works out which images go with which and link them all together and applies a ‘navigation’ over the top. This creates a 3D environment that you can ‘deep zoom’ into to get more detail.
I strongly suspect that to get good results like Steve has done takes a degree of trial and error but the result is worth it.
