Following on from the last article on faster broadband speed BT are saying that the many of their callouts about slow internet speeds are as a result of people not having fast enough equipment. Routers and especially wireless cards are frequently just not fast enough to take advantage of the faster speeds.
Another problem is that many websites cannot supply data fast enough so that the user experience will ‘feel’ very similar.
For those of us who are not likely to get superfast broadband any time soon what this probably means is that I need to make sure that I’m ready when I do my next upgrade.
For schools this might have much bigger implications for system wide upgrading of infrastructure.
