The Marmite Qualification

OCR Nationals – Love ‘em or Hate ‘em.

I think that most people realise that they are being re-drafted to make them come into line with the new Qualifications and Credit Framework QCF.  The effect of this is that (practically) only students registered before July 2010 will be following the existing syllabus.

The timeline is supposed to be:

  • End February 2010 – Expected accreditation.
  • April 2010 – Expected confirmation of funding.
  • May to June 2010 – OCR INSET meetings.
  • September 2010 – First teaching.
  • but the first one has just passed and I suspect nothing will happen until the second is confirmed.  Something to keep an eye on – the link is below

    OCR Nationals News

(Personal view is that there is nothing about the Nationals that say they HAVE to be taught badly but often the Assessment Objectives become the Scheme of Work which sometimes ‘feels’ like a 2 year trawl for evidence “Today we’re doing AO1”).
