Better batteries

  1. It is possible to use Algae to create ultrathin batteries.  Currently only done in research labs but it could mean embedding power into thinks like clothing and into paper even.


  2. Nokia are working on a battery that recharges itself from the (already available) ambient radio waves.  Current prototypes ‘harvest’ about 10 Milliwatts this way.  Given that an MP3 player takes about 100Milliwatts you can see that we’re close but still some way off.
