An independent review has been carried out and the report published on the 8th Dec.

There are 20 key recommendations but the ones that directly refer to ICT are:

Recommendation 8:

The QCA,  working with BECTA  should:
(i)   Review whether aspects of the Key Stage 3 curriculum for ICT would be more appropriately taught in Key Stage 2.
(ii)   Make sure that by the end of Key Stage 2,  children are able to select and apply ICT to advance their learning across the curriculum.

Recommendation 15:

When the National Strategies next review their materials they should look to further strengthen curricular continuity between Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3.
