This is one of those things than make you feel good about the web – I think that schools across the UK will be using this real soon.

Basically – you raise a bit of cash for charity – just like many schools do but normally it goes to a large impersonal charity and that’s the end of the story … enter Kiva

Kiva has lots of individual people looking to start up business in 3rd world, they are vetted and supported by people on the ground – all actions are rated and logged so you can see the record of the support agencies.

This helps a specific person start their business and grow commerce in far distant places.

The best bit is that when the person is successful they pay back the loan and it goes around again – it never stops working.
